Maia Hutton-Mackay investigates the confirmed and rumoured line-ups entertaining the country next summer
As Christmas approaches, our minds may turn to the new year of 2016. The cold British weather inflicted on us may leave you reminiscing over the (slightly) warmer summer and the music festivals that coincide with it.

With tickets already on sale for some of Britain’s biggest festivals, fans begin to speculate about potential headliners and performers. Very few acts have been confirmed.

‘T in the Park’ and ‘Secret Garden Party’ are amongst the few festivals who have announced the performers. Artists include the Stone Roses and Primal Scream. However, like every year, the lack of information has not stopped eager festival-goers from trying to predict who will perform.

Prince, Coldplay and Blur are heavily rumoured to play at multiple festivals in 2016, as well as The Stone Roses and Disclosure. Other rumoured performances are more specific to certain festivals. For example, Red Hot Chilli Peppers are thought to be playing at ‘Reading’ as 2016 will be the 10th anniversary of their first performance there, and five years since the second. Foo Fighters are expected to play at ‘Glastonbury’. They cancelled their performance as headliners last year, disappointing fans, after front man, Dave Grohl broke his leg during a concert in Sweden.

The summer of 2016 promises to be packed with thrilling events. Rio will be hosting the summer Olympics and Paralympics. This means that the festival organisers will have to compete with amazing spectacles to attract the crowds.
