After Brexit bombshell politics can no longer be ignored by the youth
Theresa May has announced an early election on the 8th June calling on the nation to shape the future of Brexit negotiations. But what about the role of young people?

According to a YouGov opinion poll, 75% of young people voted to remain in the European Union. However, only 65% of 18-24 year-olds actually bothered to vote. What would the result have been if all of them had done so?

The 99% Campaign is a youth-led movement that aims to make society more inclusive, fair and responsive to young people’s views and realities. It urges young people to have their voices heard and shape their own and their country’s future, regardless of Brexit, by REGISTERING TO VOTE (deadline 22 May 2017) and by making sure they exercise their vote.

Youth representatives from the 99% Campaign said, “99% Campaign believes in the power of young people to shape a democracy and a future that reflects their very own needs and realities.”

With the elections fast approaching, the young people of the 99% Campaign are compiling the views and concerns of hundreds of marginalised young people across the UK and beyond in a manifesto and are calling on others to contribute by sending their stories, views and thoughts about their expectations post-Brexit to 99percentcampaign@iars.org.uk
