Bone marrow donor appeal for friend of Exposure
This is an urgent appeal to help a friend of Exposure, 21 year old Dennis Gyamfi. Sadly Dennis was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and is currently undergoing chemotherapy but consultants at St. Georges Hospital in Tooting fear he may need a bone marrow donor to save his life.
A Spirit of London Award winner, Dennis set up Endz2Endz magazine to get young people from different postcodes in Lambeth to work together instead of fight. Dennis still runs Endz2Endz, sometimes from his hospital bed.
Dennis came to Park View Academy School in Tottenham recently to deliver a workshop around aspirations to inspire young people.
A bone marrow and blood recruitment session is being hosted at Choice FM Studios (Global Radio) in Leicester Square WC2H 7LA on Saturday the 2nd June. Time: 11am till 4pm.
Please go along if you can. It only takes ten minutes to register and THERE ARE NO NEEDLES!
Eddie Kadi and Tinchy Stryder are coming together to promote awareness for this recruitment session – not just for Dennis, who is of Ghanaian descent, but for other leukaemia victims who are of African, Asian or mixed decent.
Black, Asian or mixed people only have a 1 in 100,000 chance of a bone marrow match compared to 1 in 4 for whites – simply because not enough ethnic minorities join the register!
