Young people from Barnet appreciate the good things in life
In this episode, we discuss how easily we take things for granted. We’re thankful for the big moments, but it’s the small, everyday experiences that really stand out.
This has got us reflecting on how lucky we are. Privileges, like having a good education or living in a peaceful country are often taken for granted. When we pause and appreciate these realities, it changes our mindset.
Gratitude strengthens relationships. It builds loyalty, encourages generosity, and makes us realise how much we value the people around us. Showing appreciation to family and friends for their support goes a long way in building stronger bonds.
On the flip side, we’ve noticed how public figures and celebrities can have a negative influence. They often flaunt their wealth and possessions, and seem out of touch with reality. It’s easy to get caught up in consumerism and think that more stuff equals happiness, but that’s definitely not the case.
We talk about how hard it can be to live in the moment. At events, people often focus more on taking photos or videos than actually experiencing the moment. It’s easy to forget how important it is to be present and enjoy what’s happening right in front of you.
Gratitude plays a big role in mental wellbeing. When you focus on the good in your life, it promotes happiness and spreads to others. For Kaan, boxing has helped him build self-respect and confidence, and he’s really grateful for that.
At the end of the day, gratitude isn’t just about saying “thank you”. It’s about shifting your mindset and learning to appreciate the small things. So, what are you grateful for today?
