Young people in Barnet recognise the significance of being thankful
In this episode, the group reflect on how they feel their generation isn’t as grateful as it could be, exploring the tension and isolation it can create within families.
They discuss how religion, particularly Islam, encourages gratitude by promoting an attitude of thankfulness for life’s blessings and recognising the importance of appreciating what you have, the small things included. The group highlights how a lack of appreciation can put a strain relationships.
The conversation shifts to the role of social media, considering how influencers can promote gratitude and strengthen connections. Without gratitude, relationships can suffer, and friendships may fade.
They discuss British influencer Yung Filly, whose bold persona often downplays gratitude. His focus on humour and self-promotion can seem dismissive of others’ support. As his fame and wealth grow, his brash image distracts from genuine appreciation.
