Poem about settling: Mediocrity

Ananya Badithe explores how, over time, life’s demands can eclipse our dreams

You settled for the mediocrity within yourself
Found the bottom of the pit and sat yourself
Could be shooting for the stars but, suit yourself
Every nerve you’ve got be shitting itself

I get it, though.

It’s hard to keep up with how much we change
Shattered mirror. Inside the brain
Hard to keep track of this evolving chain
Every broken shard shows a different grain

Too much tossed in one
Everything collapses
You got so much to offer
But everything clashes

It’s hard to keep up with how much we change
Hard to keep track of this evolving chain
So you settled for the mediocrity within yourself
Could be shooting for the stars but suit yourself

Too many. Versions. Inside this brain
Too many. Burdens. Lining up your lane
Everything collapses.
You neglect to tackle every possibility

Every opportunity
You couldn’t keep up, so you
Stopped all that mattered
You settled for the mediocrity within yourself.
